

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. – Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday night in Temple Hills. The victim is 22-year-old Louis Smith Jr. of Greenbelt. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On May 5, 2024, at approximately 11:20 pm, officers responded to the 2600 block of Southern Avenue for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they located Smith inside a stairwell suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).
