

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Seat Pleasant on Thursday. The deceased driver is 69-year-old Zachery Cummings of Bowie.
On July 18, 2024, at approximately 1:30 pm, officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to a collision involving two vehicles in the area of Central Avenue near Brightseat Road. Once on scene, they located the victim in his vehicle suffering from trauma. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The second driver was not injured.
The preliminary investigation revealed the two involved vehicles collided in the westbound lanes of Central Avenue. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The PGPD investigates all fatal crashes that occur in the city of Seat Pleasant.
