

BOWIE, Md. – On February 8, 2024, Bowie State University celebrated the opening of its brand-new Esports Center. The center houses some of the latest and most advanced gaming technology to support the growth of esports, allow students to compete professionally, and also give students another recreational activity to enjoy.

The roughly $575,000 facility offers 12 gaming stations, a racing simulator, and streaming support. This new space will also serve as the training space for Bowie’s Esports team, competing in national competitions and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

According to Statista, the Esports market worldwide is projected to reach a revenue of US$4.3bn in 2024. In terms of the user base, the Esports market is expected to have a total of 856.5m users by 2028.
